Fertility & Therapeutic Massage
Fertility massage is based on Maya Abdominal Massage (MAM), which is founded on the ancient Mayan technique of abdominal massage. MAM is an external non-invasive manipulation that repositions internal organs that have shifted, which can restrict the flow of blood, lymph, nerves and qi.
Using MAM is an important component of your fertility enhancement at Acupuncture Northwest & Associates. We recommend a MAM consultation for all of our fertility patients, to know where your uterus and other organs are positioned and whether adhesions are found. MAM is especially helpful when you have physical stagnations in the lower abdomen, such as: adhesions, polyps, fibroids, endometriosis, cysts or tubal blockages.
What you can expect at a MAM Fertility Consultation & Treatment:
- Self Care
Learn self-care techniques to do at home.
Consult on lifestyle, nutrition and overall health.
Have abdomen and reproductive organs assessed for adhesions and position.
Repositioning of internal organs and breaking up stagnations.

Relaxing and therapeutic pregnancy massage is useful for alleviating the “aches and pains” of pregnancy. You can get pregnancy massage throughout your pregnancy.
Maya Abdominal Massage (MAM) is suggested after 19 weeks of pregnancy. MAM is excellent for insuring good blood supply to the fetus, proper fetal positioning for delivery, and a more comfortable pregnancy and labor.
Maya Abdominal Massage labor preparation treatments begin at 38 weeks, in conjunction with weekly acupuncture. Weekly MAM treatments during the last few weeks of pregnancy have shown to significantly reduce the amount of time a woman spends in labor.
Swedish And Deep-Tissue Massage (Therapeutic Massage)
Currently only in our Seattle office.
Therapeutic massage releases chronic muscular tension and improves circulation. Massage can also increase joint flexibility, reduce mental fatigue and stress and promote faster healing of injured tissues. In addition, massage can improve posture and reduce blood pressure.
Some of the added benefits of therapeutic massage are better sleep, improved concentration, reduced anxiety and an overall sense of well-being.
Our therapeutic massage therapist, Danisha Christian has been treating patients for over a decade and was raised in a Native American healing tradition. We are honored to have her at our clinic.
(Insurance is only taken for the therapeutic massage and for massage we are only in network with Aetna)
