Whether it be an acute injury, chronic discomfort, or “frozen” shoulder, acupuncture can help manage your shoulder pain.
Shoulder pain is one of the most common reasons our patients come in to see us. Acupuncture can be tremendously helpful in managing an acute or chronic shoulder injury, and may even help resolve pain completely. How does it do this? By decreasing inflammation, improving blood flow to the area, and helping damaged or torn tissues to heal.
The shoulder is one of the only “ball and socket” joints in the body - giving it tremendous flexibility but also leaving it vulnerable to multiple types of injury. A group tendons called the “rotator cuff” work to secure this joint, however, if one link in the group is broken it can throw off the entire musculature. This is often what we see in our patients coming in with shoulder pain - one broken piece is causing widespread pain and decreased functionality.
Our skilled practitioners will work with patients to locate where the cause of their pain is coming from. If a patient is coming in with an established diagnosis for the pain, we will use this information to help shape our treatments. As with many other types of pain, acupuncture works well when used alongside PT and other healing modalities. Our practitioners will work with your team to make sure you get back to the activities you love as quickly as possible.

The Shoulder Whisperer” – When I had pain due to my shoulder injury, Julie Booker would treat me right after PT and my range of motion would increase by 20-30% immediately and my pain would be lessened. My physical therapist was so amazed and told me to always get acupuncture right after I had PT with her. Without acupuncture, it would have taken my shoulder much longer to heal and rid myself of the pain.
After doing physical therapy, I still had pain in my shoulder and a lack of full functioning. With acupuncture I had more relief than anything else I had done and it happened in a shorter period of time and with less effort.
